First off - hooray for a New Year! The best events of my life have occurred during even numbered years. Being born (thanks, Mom!), graduating high school, graduating college, getting married to my sweetie, Paisley's arrival, etc. So when the calendar rolled around to 2012, I felt some relief for the future... I think it is going to be a good one for us. No resolutions for me personally... still going to keep chipping away on my 101 in 1001 list, though. I hope to attack it a little more vigorously than I did in 2011 since I didn't make a big dent, but it's fun to look back and see what I learned and accomplished so far.
Learned a valuable parenting lesson last week... Panatem is a miracle worker. It's a diaper cream and it succeeded where every other cream on the shelf failed. Poor Paisley was suffering despite our attempts. We had to order it online (anyone seen this stuff in a store?) but it cleared up an epic outbreak in no time. Just had to share in case it helps any other struggling parent. Paisley's mood improved dramatically as well once said problem was resolved. She was getting a little cranky.

After being hunkered down for most of the month of December, we are starting to emerge and catch up with all of the lovely people in our lives. Last Monday, I made cookies and my friend, Ali, came over to the house. Refreshing doesn't even quite cut it. It was nice to have time to do something leisurely and visit with my sweet friend. Even though we have a lot of work to do before relisting the house, it has been nice to carve out some bits of free time and enjoy. The fact that cookie dough was involved doesn't hurt, either. Heh.
Last Tuesday, we gathered at the Williams' place along with the Eastmans for hot chocolate (which is why I was making cookies Monday). Amy, the ever-pinnacle of hostess with the mostess, created a hoco spread like you wouldn't believe - choc and peppermint chips, whipped cream, toppings, etc. It had been too long since we all had gathered and it was lovely to catch up and unwind. The kiddos played. Stories were exchanged. And I walked away wanting to do it again soon. The Williams' and Eastmans are incredible families and upon leaving them, I always feel so thankful that they were brought into our lives.

We were happy to catch dinner with some of Jeromy's family and see all of them. Janie hurt her hand up at the cabin over New Years weekend, so we hope her recovery is speedy. My Mom made extra spaghetti one night and sent it home with us for dinner (rock my socks) - Paisley approved!

Other than some wicked tummy issues that popped up, this weekend was perfect. Lots of time with my two favorite people. Jeromy and I actually did some meal planning and were thoughtful and deliberate with our shopping. I bought things that I've never purchased before (PS - who knew that Target would come through for me and have basil when Sprouts didn't have any?). We have some dishes that we are looking forward to trying - going to do a veggie dish this evening, so I'm pretty excited about that. Also this weekend, we were able to find a good home for a piece of furniture that we no longer have room for, deliver a gift to cute Dafni (who is due any day now - yay!), Jeromy changed the brakes on my car, and we put Christmas away. I wasn't feeling well for part of the weekend so I was able to get in some needed naps on top of it all. For the first time in a while, I woke up on a Monday morning feeling rested and prepared for the week ahead (even though the mood outside suggests different).

I'm super excited to start on the sewing projects for Paisley's playroom this week. Isn't this fabric just yummy? Mom went with Paisley and I to pick it out and I was glad to have her help. She showed me some sewing basics and I hope to have some finished projects in the upcoming days. Eee!

Things are pretty quiet other than this. I love it. After sewing shenanigans wrap up, we need to start back on getting the house reorganized/cleaned to sell. The exterior was recently repainted and we're having a slate landing installed by the back door later this week to replace some of the damaged flooring in that area. Lots of organizing, packing, scrubbing, cleaning, etc. will follow. It's amazing how two months and holidays can turn your once-spotless house into a war zone. I'm hoping our new changes will appeal to buyers and that the right people will fall in love with the house. Many of our current plans hinge on us moving, so I'm praying that I'll have the patience to "hurry up and wait" again.
